Our first Day Rosh Hashanah saw a wonderful congregation of over 40 people with the service as always expertly conducted by Daniel Rosenthal, however, the second day ‘Shofar’ service only saw a handful of congregants.  Those who did not turn up for this service missed a real treat as our enthusiastic “shofar” expert, Gerhart Blohm showed off and blew some of his amazing collection of shofars, one of which he kindly donated to the Congregation after Yom Kippur.  Read more…

On Kol Nidre our President made the usual charitable appeal.  Last year we raised over £1,600  a great total for a small community. This was split between Israel (UJIA) and the PJ Library whose letter of thanks can be seen below.  This year we have again decided to split the funds raised between Israel and a charity called Camp Simcha, which helps support Jewish families who have the misfortune of having a seriously ill child.

We again enjoyed a really good congregation as Daniel was joined by former member Eric Berg who conducted both the Shacharit and Minchah services.

Eric relaxing in Spain

We were pleased to welcome Eric back to Norwich from his retirement home on the Costa Blanca, Spain and to hear his remarkably good voice singing a number of well know melodies.  Eric is thoroughly enjoying his retirement in Spain where he enjoys singing in two choirs as well as glorious sunshine.

On Shabbat Shuva after the normal service we were pleased to welcome back Harold Warren and to attend a special kiddish to celebrate his 98th birthday. Read more..

On Simchat Torah we all enjoyed a  fantastic,  fun occasion, with he traditional procession of the scrolls followed by a wonderful Italian themed party hosted by our Chatan Torah and Chatan Bereshith.  We had 10 children in attendance and their exuberant participation and sheer enjoyment made it all so worthwhile.  Read more…

We were pleased to welcome a good number of visitors to Norwich at both our services and other events.  Many had come from afar such as San Diego in California, Debrecen in Hungary, New York Washington, London and Bournemouth.  Thank you to everyone for your attendances and to all who worked so hard to make this a great season of prayer, fostering  a really great community spirit.
