It is a great honour, privilege and surprise to have been elected to serve as the President.
My first task is to thank Maureen most profusely for the hard work and dedicated leadership she has shown over the course of the past three years. This has not been the easiest of times to be our President but Maureen assumed this responsibility with great expertise and dedication. She will be a very hard act to follow, and I am going to be highly reliant on her guidance and support. I am looking forward to working with Daniel too, who has embraced the uniqueness of the Norwich Hebrew Congregation and shown fantastic flexibility in adapting to minhag Norwich. Much hard work goes on behind the scenes, and thanks go to all the members of the committee.
Over the 19 years since Peter and I moved here I have treasured my association with our lovely Shul and I have valued the friendships which we have formed within the community. I grew up in Swaziland in an even smaller community than Norwich, where we didn’t have a Shul so I know how lucky we are to have such a strong and loyal congregation.
It is always lovely to see our regular congregants, to see the arrival of new members and especially to see young families and children filling the Shul.
