From the President’s Chair – January 2021

We seem to be back to square one with the new variant of the Covid 19 Virus, we are yet again in lockdown with almost no direct social contacts.  The program of vaccination has just begun with elderly and vulnerable receiving their injections first.  It will take several months for significant numbers of the population to become immune thus reducing the risk of infection. Hopefully you’ll all receive your vaccinations very shortly.

We will continue to have our Friday afternoon services on Zoom which as the winter progresses the time of this event will become later, plus our weekly coffee mornings.   We have had also an interesting talk on Zoom by Lyn Julius on the plight of the Jews of the middle east, this was well attended.   Thanks to Joel for organizing this.   We hope to have further social events on zoom.  Please continue supporting these Zoom events.

The re-development project for the communal hall is progressing well and at present is on schedule and so far there have been no major problems.

We are most grateful to Jonathan Dangour who has very generously given funds in memory of his parents, Abraham and Doris, to replace the carpet in the synagogue.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year, and stay safe and well.

Barry
