My lovely mum, Brendel Lang died at the beginning of August at home in Cambridge, here are a few words about her.
Brendel Wittman was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, one of four children and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland just outside Washington DC. She married Charles Lang in 1967, they settled in Cambridge and had three daughters.
An early interest in art and literature stayed with her throughout life, Brendel was extremely well read in both English and French novels and took part in many artistic pursuits, including art researched and inspired by works from the Cairo Geniza. Brendel was a very active part of the Cambridge Jewish community, editing newsletters, organising events and tireless work for the Chevra Kadisha.
Accomplished at many things but overall a kind, empathic and gentle person who will be much missed.
