School Visits at Norwich Synagogue

We are very pleased to welcome school groups of all ages to visit Norwich Synagogue.

Visits can be adapted to your needs and are flexible regarding content, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

All sessions are interactive and may include trying things on, tasting significant foods, singing, dancing or having a go at writing in Hebrew.

You may like to:

  • identify key features of the synagogue
  • discover how the synagogue is used by the community
  • see the Torah and how it is taken out of the ark and read
  • explore traditions for Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath
  • learn about the Jewish dietary laws and what makes food kosher
  • discover ways in which Jews use prayer
  • have opportunities for Q&A
We can also offer interactive festival specific sessions, to include storytelling, hands-on activities and food tasting where relevant, for example for:
  • Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)
  • Hanukkah (winter festival of light near to Christmas)
  • Passover (festival celebrating freedom and the exodus from Egypt, near to Easter)
