COMMUNITY

Norwich Jewish Ladies Society

The Norwich Jewish Ladies Society is the oldest social society associated with the Norwich Hebrew Congregation. It functions to bring together the Jewish ladies of the community to socialise and discuss a wide range of interesting topics, often centred around the various hobbies and interests of it's members with practical demonstrations for example Needlecraft and Sugarcraft. It also organises events to raise money for various Jewish charities and the Synagogue.

Next Event - AGM Meeting - Monday 1st August

The Norwich Jewish Ladies Society AGM will be kindly held at Poppy Simons's at 3pm
147 Dereham Road,
Mattishall,
Norwich
NR20 3PD

All our Jewish ladies are welcome.

Pam Young, who has sent out an appeal for Jewish Child’s Day which everyone should have received, is pleased to report that she has, to date, received £300 for this excellent cause. She would welcome more from anyone who has not yet contributed.

Previous Event - Machine Embroidery Demonstration

The last meeting of the Ladies Society enjoyed a talk by Helen Durrant about machine embroidery showing us examples of her work which later she exhibited for a City and Guilds Level 3 Machine Embroidery exam, which she passed with flying colours. We have some talented members; well done and thanks to Helen.

Previous Event - Sugarcraft Demonstration

The last meeting of NJLS was on December 13th when Poppy Simons gave us an amazing demonstration of her sugarcraft skills. She showed us how to make some beautifully realistic flowers from sugar paste to decorate a cake. I don’t think she will have much competition from those who watched - it was so intricate; it has taken her many years to perfect! We hope to have more of our members’ skills to demonstrate later in the year.
