The traditional Purim reading of the Meggilah (Book of Ester) will take place in the Synagogue at 4.30pm, followed by a fun tea.  Children are encouraged to come in fancy dress and make the traditional loud noise (boos and hisses) at each mention of the villain Haman as the Meggilah is read out.

The book of Ester is set in the Persian capital of Susa (Shsham) in the third year of the reign of the Persian King Ahasuerus and tells the story of a beautiful Jewess who became Queen of Persia and saved here people from massacre by the evil Human, the King’s chief minister.
