From the President’s Chair – May/June 2017

Dear Congregants and Friends

Well although May is here, it’s feeling a little more like December.  Let’s hope it warms up soon!

It was a pleasure to see so many of you at the visit of Chief Rabbi.  I hope you all enjoyed his time with us as much as I did.  Of course I have written to thank him, and have also thanked the security team who did such a good job on the night.  The visit immediately appeared on the Chief Rabbi’s Facebook page, amazing!  Do have a look if Facebook is your thing, under the photos section.

Pesach has come and gone, and I would like to thank Daniel for his excellent leading of the services and conducting of the seder.  Daniel was assisted by Roddy, so thanks too to Roddy and the ladies, especially Poppy, for organising and preparing the food.

Our fundraising concert in June is approaching speedily and I’m delighted to say that the Lord Mayor and the Sheriff, and their consorts, as well as Bishop Alan Hopes, Bishop of East Anglia, will be attending as our VIP guests.  Please join us on the night and bring your friends and family for what promises to be an exciting concert!  Tickets available either through Maureen or the Theatre Royal both directly or via this website.

We have our AGM next Sunday 7th May.  This is your community and your chance to influence things and I would like to encourage you all to come. We hope to vote in new members onto the committee, to thank retiring committee members and will be updating you all on the fundraising and building plans.

Daniel will be on a well-deserved holiday on Shabbat 13th and 20th May.  Several competent members will be taking the services on those days. Enjoy your holiday, Daniel!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon at one or other of our events.

Marian
