The talk by Robert Saxton on Sunday 2nd April 2017 also turned into a “Saxton” family reunion. As well as his cousin Fay Cadywould we were extremely pleased to welcome another of her cousins, Neil King, along with five members of his family. Neil’s mother Leila who sadly diet last year was also a Saxton.
As you can see from this group photograph it was a very happy occasion.
The everyday Ark curtain was dedicated to their grandfather Harry Saxton in 1934. The original curtain perished but Sandy Bennett transferred the dedication panel and other embellishments onto a new curtain some years ago.
Neils father was also responsible for donating the very fine war memorial which can be seen on the vestibule wall outside the Synagogue.
