Update on Communal Hall Refurbishment Fund from our Treasurer

In January this year when Marian and I em-barked on the mammoth task of raising some £385,000 to refurbish the communal hall including; the entrance, toilets, kitchen as well as building a new library, chair/table store and to renew the heating and lighting systems we thought that we were completely wasting our time. It couldn’t be done!

How wrong we were, as now after some 8 months we have reached a sum either donated or pledged of over £230,000 i.e., 60% of our target. Amazing what one can do. Of course we still have a way to go, roughly another £150,000 needs to be found. Can you help? So far many of our members have been very generous giving or pledging some significant sums of money for which we send our sincere thanks.

One member Jonny Dangour, a long time friend and loyal supporter of our congregation, has published a booklet entitled “Where I am now”. It is a delightful and thoughtful read where the author entrusts the reader with his thoughts on a variety of subjects reflecting on his life both past and present. The book celebrates life in general and Jonny’s residence in his beloved Norwich home “Qumran” in particular, where he has lived for the past 28 years, and where many of us have enjoyed his kind hospitality.

Copies of the booklet can be obtained either from the Shul or directly from the author in ex-change for a donation towards the NHC Refurbishment Fund. We applaud and send our sin-cere thanks to him for his continuing support of our congregation. Jonny’s book has already attracted donations of over £300 to the refurbishment fund, this being in addition to his sig-nificant personal donation. Contact [email protected] or call 01603 505515.

Over £50 has been made though sales of jam and chutney which was home made by John & Fay Cadywould, so a big thank you to them as well.

Indeed if you haven’t yet made your donation and would like to do so please contact either Marian ([email protected], or call 01603 506482) or Nick ([email protected] or call 01362 850515). If you feel that you would like to spread the cost of your donation over a period of time (12 or 24 months) by making monthly installments, then please contact Nick to discuss your requirements.
